As well as being stocked in over 20 retail outlets across the Channel Islands, our artisan liqueurs are also favoured by some of Guernsey & Jersey’s most discerning bartenders.
We recently sat down with Connor Kearney, Manager at Hook & Sling, whom told us about his career, life in Guernsey and treated us to a couple of tipples made with yours truly.
Connor, 25 from Essex, was lured to the “blue waters and countless beaches” (get Visit Guernsey on the phone!) of Guernsey in 2016 when an opportunity arose at St. Peter Port hotspot, Hook & Sling. He’s been here ever since and has relished the opportunity to take on the role of bar manager.
He’s been bartending for five years now and is making the most of the, somewhat, better weather down in the glorious southern isle that is Guernsey. With dreams of one day opening his own bar in Asia, he’s well clued-up on the cocktail scene, citing The Gibson as a favourite haunt (#21 best bar in the world) and the classic Negroni as his favourite sip.
Whilst the sunnier climes of South-East Asia may one day tempt him away, whilst he’s here in Guernsey it’s great to see Hook & Sling making use of local produce. Connor was kind enough to share a couple of recipes, the latter of which is currently on their specials board this week!
Damson in Distress
- 25ml Haut Maison Damson Gin
- 25ml Aperol
- 25ml Campari
A nod to the classic Negroni, this is a slightly more tart variant on the bitter classic, guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser and we’ll be sure to be back in again ordering it in bulk.
- 50ml Havana Club 3yo
- 15ml Haut Maison Limited Edition Elderflower Liqueur
- 25ml Fresh Lemon Juice (half a lemon)
- 10ml Cinnamon Syrup
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, shake vigorously with ice and double-strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon peel or a dehydrated lemon wheel.
